Investigation and Research on the Decoration of Rural Marriage House

With the improvement of living standards, the income of residents has gradually increased, and people’s requirements for the decoration of wedding rooms have become higher and higher, but the pollution caused by the decoration of wedding rooms has become more and more serious, especially in the influence of some customs lower rural areas. This kind of pollution is not only a waste of material, but also has a great potential impact on human health. Therefore, the investigation and research on the decoration of the rural marriage room is of more practical significance.

1 Main pollution sources and hazards of rural marriage houses

According to existing investigations, there are about 300 kinds of indoor pollutants that have been found so far, which have different degrees of impact on people’s health, and their mechanism of action is relatively complex. Among them, the main harmful pollutants in the marriage room are formaldehyde, benzene series, ammonia, radon and radium.

1.1 Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a colorless, particularly irritating and soluble gas that is irritating to the eyes and nose. The main source of formaldehyde is the decoration materials of the wedding room and the urea-formaldehyde resin glue in the decoration materials. Urea-formaldehyde resin glue is a commonly used adhesive, and the formaldehyde contained in urea-formaldehyde resin glue will be released into the air in free form.

In addition, wallpapers and carpets used for decoration will also release formaldehyde to a certain extent. The release of formaldehyde is related to temperature, humidity, ventilation and the size of the room. Formaldehyde is mainly absorbed by the human respiratory tract, long-term absorption can cause respiratory diseases, and long-term skin contact will also cause certain effects. At high concentrations, it will cause great harm to the nervous system and liver of the human body, especially to children who have been exposed to high concentrations for a long time.

1.2 Benzene and its homologues

Benzene is a colorless liquid with a special aroma and is a relatively common organic pollutant. Benzene and its homologues are abundant in various construction and decoration materials, such as additives for paints and coatings, as well as newly bought furniture. Benzene and its homologues are released, and the release period is long, up to more than one year.

According to the test by the Environmental Monitoring Center of China Interior Decoration Association in accordance with the new standard, more than 80% of the newly installed rooms have the problem of benzene exceeding the standard. In the case of poor ventilation, short-term inhalation of high-concentration benzene vapor can cause acute benzene poisoning with central nervous system depression. Chronic benzene poisoning damages the body’s hematopoietic system, and can cause leukemia in severe cases. Benzene has been identified as a serious carcinogen by relevant international research centers [3].

1.3 Ammonia

Ammonia is a colorless alkaline gas with a special pungent odor. It is less dense than air and has a higher boiling point. Ammonia has a stimulating effect on the eyes, nose and throat of the human body. Inhaling a large amount of ammonia gas can cause nasal congestion for a short time and cause a feeling of suffocation. It is easy to cause tears when contacting the eyes. Be careful when touching it. Indoor ammonia mainly comes from coagulants added in building materials during construction and bleaching agents in interior decoration materials and decorative materials.

2 The investigation process

The main data for this survey came from more than 20 families in several natural villages in Dengcheng Town, Zhoukou City (including Baidi, Baishe, Yangwan, Yanghe, and Lincun). The survey mainly focused on the following questions: 1. How long before the wedding room was decorated; 2. The interval between decoration and living 3. Is there any irritating smell in the house on weekdays; 4. The first choice of decoration materials 5. Do you know the potential hazards that certain decoration materials will bring. The specific survey results are shown in the following table:

According to the survey results, 90% of the home decoration starts within 0-6 months before marriage, and they will live in almost immediately after the decoration, but the pollutant content during this time period is high, and the harm to the human body is also more serious. . In addition, although most families smell a certain special odor in the room, it often does not appear in a short period of time because of the dominant influence. Therefore, in order to have a relatively safe living environment, the decoration of the wedding room should be about 6 months in advance, and the earlier the harm to the human body is less. From these data, it can be concluded that 85% of people do not pay much attention to safety and environmental protection when choosing decoration materials. In addition, most rural families do not have the awareness of advance decoration because they do not understand the hazards of short-term living and the importance of choosing decoration materials. Therefore, the popularization of safety knowledge about interior decoration is particularly important.

3 Causes

Every phenomenon has a reason behind it. There are several phenomena in the decoration of rural wedding rooms that can be explained and understood. In view of the various problems in the decoration of rural wedding rooms, according to the survey, there are mainly the following reasons:

3.1 A high proportion of migrant workers

In rural areas, the vast majority of young and middle-aged labor force go out to work all year round, and their free time is mainly concentrated in the period before and after the Spring Festival. Most of the young people of the right age are preparing for the wedding, decorating the house and so on. Few families are aware of the seriousness of pollution, and think that it is not very useful to decorate in advance. Going home early will delay working hours and affect income. Therefore, the pre-renovation of the house is usually within 3 months before the wedding date, and it is extremely rare to renovate 3-6 months in advance. The decoration is completed in a short ten days and a half months, and there is not enough time for it to ventilate. ventilation.

3.2 The wedding date is in a hurry

Most of the young people of school age in rural areas met mainly through blind date. Especially in the current situation where the ratio of men and women is unbalanced and the burden of betrothal gifts is serious, many parents of men hope to shorten the time span of the marriage period, so as to avoid more troublesome affairs in the future. It is precisely under the influence of this kind of thinking of “long nights and dreams” and “love before marriage” that many young people of school age in rural areas often take about a month to hold a wedding, so naturally they don’t have enough time for the decoration. house ventilation.

3.3 Poor sense of respect for face and self-protection

Although the times are constantly progressing, people in some areas have not yet converted their backward thinking, thinking that marriage is just a face project, and the decoration of the wedding room can be described as luxury. And under the influence of the so-called face, in the endless comparison between everyone, a lot of manpower and material resources are seriously wasted, and many decoration materials do not consider the real needs, so that many families are often impoverished because of marriage. In addition, although many families feel that there is an irritating odor in the room, most of them think that it will not affect the body, so they ignore it.

4 Solutions

According to the above analysis, combined with the nature of the pollutants, the following solutions are mainly proposed under the condition of ensuring reasonable decoration:
①When the weather permits, try to open the doors and windows for ventilation, so that there is a certain amount of gas circulation in the room, and speed up the reduction of its pollution concentration;
② When the economy and time permit, renovate the house half a year or even a year in advance, so that the high-concentration pollutants can naturally volatilize to a safe concentration;
③ Raising some plants indoors, such as Chlorophytum, Sansevieria, Aloe, Dripping Guanyin, Milan, etc., can not only increase the visual sense and beauty, but also absorb harmful gases, release oxygen, and purify the air;
④ Don’t pursue aesthetics too much, and the safety performance of decoration materials should be considered first. Try to use green and safe materials and buy products certified by the state;
⑤ Relevant departments strengthen control and provide consumers with detailed product information on decoration materials, such as the “smoking is harmful to health” logo on cigarette boxes, etc. The decoration materials should also indicate the hazards of the materials and the length of their effect, so that consumers can Know the basic information and take simple precautions.

5 Conclusion

Although the wedding room is the beginning of a good marriage life, it should still be moderate and reasonable in the decoration. Although the pollution caused by decoration does not immediately cause harm to the human body, science has also confirmed that indoor pollution caused by decoration has a certain incubation period for human health, and it is more harmful to special groups such as babies, the elderly, and pregnant women. A health-threatening scourge must not be buried in the decoration of the wedding room, and must be properly resolved.
